Saturday last was a great day at the mining village of Fallin, three miles from Stirling, the occasion being the opening of a bowling green and a sale of work, both these events being the first of the kind in the village.
On Wednesday evening five rinks from the Spittalmyre Bowling Club visited Polmaise Bowling Club, when a most enjoyable game was contested, which ended in a victory for Spittalmyre with 32 shots up, the scores being :- Spittalmyre,106; Polmaise, 72.
The Fallin Club's victory is noteworthy because of the fact that they are the youngest combination in the competition, and that this was the first trophy, they had taken home in the mining village.
Polmaise and Bridge of Allan Bowling Clubs met in a four-rink game at Spittalmyre green on Saturday to decide the ownership of the Macintosh Trophy.
The final of the championship was played on Wednesday between J. Gwynne and J. Gwynne, Jr., when the former won by 21 shots to 10. This is the ninth time J. Gwynne has been champion of the Polmaise Club.
