Polmaise Bowling Club is delighted to congratulate Aaron Furzer, who has won the Stirling County East & West Champion of Champions title.
Organised by the County Association, the Champion of Champions competition brings together the Gents Singles champions from clubs throughout the Stirling East and Stirling West county districts, with each player earning their place by first winning their own club singles championship.
Representing Polmaise, Aaron progressed through the competition to reach the Grand Final at Grangemouth Bowling Club, where he faced Gary Stirling in an excellent contest between two in-form players.
Aaron made a strong start to the match and began to take control in the early stages, moving into a 7–2 lead after seven ends. He continued to bowl well through the middle of the game and had built a 13–7 advantage after 15 ends.
Gary battled back well and reduced the gap to 17–14 with three ends remaining, but Aaron responded superbly under pressure. A vital single on the 22nd end helped steady the position before Aaron produced a decisive finish, picking up three shots on the 24th end to seal a 21–15 victory and secure the title.
It was a performance that showed not only Aaron’s quality, but also his composure at key stages of the match.
The achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that Aaron is one of the youngest players competing at this level. To come through a field made up of club singles champions from across both county districts and lift such a prestigious title is a tremendous accomplishment and a proud moment for both Aaron and Polmaise Bowling Club.
Club President Davie Stewart was delighted to share in the celebrations afterwards, with Aaron proudly returning to Polmaise with the trophy.
The club would also like to congratulate Gary Stirling on an excellent final and thank Grangemouth Bowling Club, along with everyone involved in organising and hosting the competition.
Congratulations Aaron on a fantastic achievement and a very proud day for Polmaise Bowling Club.
