Polmaise Bowling Club marked a very special occasion with the tenth annual Charlie McNeil Memorial Pairs tournament.
A fantastic turnout of 36 members took part in this year's competition, enjoying a day of competitive bowling, friendship and remembrance. The strong support for the event once again demonstrated how much the Memorial means to the club and, most importantly, to the McNeil family.
After an excellent day of bowls, Thomas Stevenson and Lewis Lyle emerged as the winners and were proudly presented with the Charles McNeil Memorial Trophy.
Danny McCormick and William Neil finished as runners-up, while Alex Brown / Sonia Donaldson, and Alex Reynolds / William Maxwell, were the beaten semi-finalists.
President's Thanks and Appreciation
Club President David Stuart expressed his sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the tenth anniversary such a memorable occasion.
Special thanks were given to George Rough, Aaron Furzer, Alex Brown, Peter Black and Lawrence Begg for the considerable time and effort they put into organising the tournament. Events of this size do not happen without a great deal of work behind the scenes, and their contribution was greatly appreciated.
David also thanked all the staff at the Gothenburg for looking after everyone throughout the day, along with Bobby D for providing the pizzas.
Further thanks went to Rhonda, Tilly and Agg for preparing the fantastic buffet, and to all the ladies who generously supplied cakes. Their continued support for the club never goes unnoticed.
Elaine and all the ladies were also thanked for organising the Big Board and raffles, as was every person who donated a raffle prize. Their generosity helped make the day such a success.
The club's greenkeepers also received a well-deserved thank you for their hard work in preparing the green, which played excellently throughout the competition.
A Special Day of Remembrance
Above all, the club would like to offer a very special and heartfelt thank you to the McNeil family.
Ten years after the first Memorial tournament, the event continues to bring people together through friendship, laughter and remembrance. It remains a wonderful tribute to Charlie and reflects how much he continues to mean to his family, friends and everyone at Polmaise Bowling Club.
The club is extremely grateful to the McNeil family for allowing members to share in such a meaningful occasion. Charles was remembered in the very best way, surrounded by his family, friends and the bowling community.
