Polmaise Bowling Club was delighted to welcome pupils from Fallin Primary School to the green for a special Try Bowls day.
The visit saw two classes from the school take part, with 61 children given the chance to try lawn bowls, learn more about the game, and enjoy time on the green with club members. It was fantastic to see so many local young people getting involved, enjoying themselves, and giving bowls a go.
The day was supported by several Polmaise members, who helped introduce the pupils to the sport and made sure everyone felt welcome. The club would like to thank David Stewart, John McKenna, Liz McManus, Janice Johnstone and Lewis Lyle for their help on the day, as well as Laurence Begg for kindly providing water for the children.
A special mention must also go to Peter Black, who has dedicated so much of his time over the years to supporting young people in the village. Peter is a highly respected member of the community, and his continued commitment and enthusiasm have made a positive difference to many.
As part of the day, Club President David Stewart was pleased to present Head Teacher Mrs Brennan with a donation of £425 from Polmaise Bowling Club. The donation was made possible thanks to the generosity of club members and funds raised through the club's recent charity day. The money will go towards supporting wider opportunities for pupils at Fallin Primary School.
Mrs Brennan thanked Polmaise Bowling Club for hosting the school's P5 and P6 pupils, saying that everyone had been made to feel very welcome and that the children had really enjoyed the taster sessions.
The club hopes that the day will encourage some of the pupils to come along to the junior sessions and continue learning the game.
Polmaise Bowling Club is proud to support local young people and community causes, and this event was a great example of the strong community spirit that exists within the village.
