Spittalmyre Bowling Club played host to an exciting evening of competition on Tuesday 24th June, as Polmaise's finest took to the green in the Scottish District Qualifier Finals.

Gary Malcolmson in action during the District Singles Final

Gary Malcolmson, who had battled his way to the final of the District Singles Qualifying round, put in a strong performance but was ultimately defeated 21–16 by Kevin Frogly of Borestone Bowling Club. While the result didn't go Gary's way this time, his run to the final has been a fantastic achievement and he can hold his head high.

Meanwhile, in the District Pairs Final, Aaron Furzer and William Black delivered a dominant performance against father and son duo Alan and Robert Hunter Snr of Alva. With precision and teamwork, the Polmaise pair secured a convincing victory of 22-6 with 1 end left to play and now advance to the Scottish National Championships in Ayr later this summer.

Gary's son, Kyle Malcolmson, played in the Scottish Under 25 Singles Qualifier Final on Monday 30th June at Spittalmyre, facing Robert Hunter Jnr of Alva. Despite a fantastic effort, Kyle was defeated 21–11 by a very experienced opponent. He can be proud of his performance and will no doubt bounce back stronger.

Congratulations to all our players for their efforts and dedication. The Club is proud of your achievements, and we look forward to seeing more success on the greens.
