Polmaise Bowling Club is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Aaron Furzer and James "Basher" Brown, who reached the semi-final of the 2025 Scottish National Pairs Championship held at Ayr over the weekend.
The dynamic duo represented Polmaise with distinction, navigating a fiercely competitive field to take their place among the top four pairs in the country. Their campaign was a testament to their skill, teamwork, and composure under pressure – qualities that have become hallmarks of their partnership.
In the semi-final, Aaron and James faced the formidable pairing of Colin Howe and Paul Foster MBE, one of Scotland's most decorated international bowlers. Despite a valiant effort, the Polmaise pair were defeated 21–8 by the experienced side.
While the result didn't go their way, the achievement of reaching the semi-finals on the national stage cannot be understated. Competing against top-level opposition and holding their own with pride and sportsmanship is something the entire club can celebrate.
"To reach the final four in Scotland is no small feat. Aaron and James have done Polmaise proud – they've demonstrated that talent from our club can stand tall on the national stage," said Alex Brown, club President..
This milestone adds to an already impressive season for both players, with Aaron also clinching the District Pairs title earlier this year. The club looks forward to what the future holds for this talented pair.
From everyone at Polmaise Bowling Club – congratulations, Aaron and James, on a brilliant national run!
