Polmaise Bowling Club recently hosted the annual John "Chucks" Johnstone Memorial, a day filled with outstanding bowls, camaraderie, and fitting tributes to one of our club's most cherished figures.
The green was in superb condition, thanks to the tireless work of our dedicated greenkeepers, ensuring an excellent standard of play throughout the day.
Tournament Results
The winners of this year's event were:
- Gary Malcolmson
- Kyle Malcolmson
- Rab Johnstone
They overcame strong competition from Sandy Deans, Martin Hearns, and Alex McNeill in a well-fought final.
It was a particularly emotional victory for Rab Johnstone, marking the first time he has lifted the Memorial title. His triumph was warmly received by all in attendance—well done Rab! 👏👏
Thanks and Acknowledgements
Rab Johnstone extended heartfelt thanks to Elaine, Christine, and Vicky for their hard work on the day, and also to Gary Malcolmson, who has successfully run this tournament for many years.
On behalf of Rab and the Johnstone family, a generous donation of £100 to PBC and £40 to the Presentation Dance was made, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by the club. In addition, the semi-finalist team donated their £75 prize money towards the Presentation Dance fund.
A Special Day
The tournament was a wonderful success, bringing together members, families, and friends in celebration of both bowls and community spirit.
